The Vote16USA youth leaders were featured on NBC Nightly News in a segment highlighting current efforts to lower the voting age to 16 in Washington, D.C.
D.C. seems poised to become the first major city in the country to lower the voting age when the City Council officially votes on the proposal this fall, and D.C. Public Schools is already excited about integrating more civics as a result.
Last week, on June 27, more than 70 youth leaders and adult allies will testify in favor of the bill at a City Council hearing, and PBS NewsHour will be airing a segment on our work on this issue on July 1st, the 47th anniversary of the ratification of the 26th Amendment, which lowered the voting age from 21 to 18.
